Back into the Dragon's Den

St Mary's students impress the judges

Chepstow School hosted Dragons Den 2 on Wednesday 20th May, a Joint Cluster Project with More Able and Talented students. It proved to be a hugely successful event; the standards of presentation delivered were outstanding.

Chepstow School and the cluster primaries; The Dell, Thornwell, Pembroke, St Marys and Shirenewton, have been meeting throughout the year planning and developing their project brief. Year 6 students, together with Year 7,8 and 13 students, worked together on developing an idea which would benefit the community of Chepstow and the surrounding area.

All of the teams came up with fantastic ideas - the winning team, St Mary's, concept was called, ‘Safari Touch,’ an interactive walk way experience. They really impressed the four Dragons with their creative and innovative approach and well thought-out business plan. The Dragons included: Claire Price, Headteacher at Chepstow School, Johnny Hathaway, a local businessman, Roger Hiscox, an entrepreneur based in Newport and Peter Farley, a local town councillor. The venue was packed with very proud parents from all schools and were treated to a brilliant evening. We are looking forward to Dragons Den 3 next year! Kate Loram and Jamie Goddard (teachers and organisers of the event) were blown away by the standard and very proud of the future entrepreneurs on show.
